Senator Susan Moran – COVID 19 Tests
COVID 19 test distribution to support Sandwich Businesses
SANDWICH — On May 16, 2022, Massachusetts State Senator Susan Moran (D – Plymouth & Barnstable) who represents the Town of Sandwich delivered 250 rapid COVID 19 tests to the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce Director, Denise Dever. The test kits were in support of the Sandwich Fire Department and Sandwich Chamber of Commerce BEAT (Business Employment Testing Assistance) initatives, which began last year.
The program enables Town of Sandwich businesses to obtain rapid COVID 19 antigen test kits quickly for employees who are symptomatic. The goal of the program is to keep employees healthy and keep Sandwich businesses open for the busy summer season.
“As the state’s response to COVID-19 evolves, I am glad to have been able to contribute to preparedness efforts here in Sandwich,” said Senator Moran (D-Plymouth & Barnstable). “Local partnerships continue to be critical in ensuring that our communities have the resources they need to weather this public health crisis. SFD and the Chamber of Commerce have taken proactive action with the BEAT program to provide employers with timely testing services and allow them to prioritize the well-being of their staff and customers."
The Sandwich Fire Department and Sandwich Chamber of Commerce have been working with our local businesses to get resources to our business owners to assist with COVID 19 testing since May 2021. According to Denise Dever, Director of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce, “The Sandwich Chamber has been delighted to work with Chief Burke to assist in getting the tests out to our local businesses. We are a great resource for this type of collaboration.”
Thanks to Senator Moran’s efforts, she was able to secure $10,000.00 in which the Sandwich Fire Department purchased test kits from Sterilis Medical Screening, a Massachusetts based company who has supported the Town of Sandwich since April 2020 in its fight against COVID by supplying the Sandwich Fire Department with testing supplies and waste remediation equipment.
